Message	leaning towards offering them with both thick and thin grip options with the addition of thumb holds on the upper inside portion as mentioned by "David G". I really think the one with thicker grip is a great option especially with all the stock fittings in place. It feels solid compare to the one with thinner grip and makes the Z a lot fun to drive, maybe it will look better after wrapping in genuine leather......
